WORST experience – reception staff terrible – Review of Sirata St Pete Beach, St. Pete Beach

This is a copy of the review I gave to the Sirata. The check-in person, Glen, was wonderful as was the bellhop, Dale. Because I was part of a wedding party a “special rate” was given. I wanted to extend my stay for an additional night but was charged full price, over four hundred dollars. The floors of my room were filthy. One of the nights a wedding party with sparklers was held right below my door. When I called the front desk (around 11:45/50) to complain about the noise I was told “It’s a wedding.” as if that would explain and excuse everything. I was told it would end at midnight. It didn’t. I called the desk again and no one answered. I called again figuring the desk was avoiding my call and a different person picked up and I was again told “It’s a wedding.” This wasn’t just a little noise — people were yelling, yelping, shouting. Unfortunately, between the ridiculous “resort fees”, the full charge for the last day of my stay, the really dirty floor and the incredibly poor planning by having a wedding party take place in a common area I do not feel at all good about my experience at the Sirata. Terribly sorry but I am not at all inclined to recommend your facility either as an event venue or as a resort. By the way, I was there to attend a wedding. We ended up in a tent due to inclement weather. The tent was not adequately cooled, and the table set up was not done very well. The bride and groom were at a little table in a front corner of the room — out of sight of most. Not sure what the problem was (table too high, chairs too low?) but the floral arrangement on their table all but hid them from view. Finally, I had to check out very early — around 5:30am. (just my travel plan — no fault on Sirata) I was unable to get a receipt or any kind of list of charges because your computers were backing up or something that prevented my being able to see the total charges. He said I would receive an email in a little while. (That didn’t arrive until a few days later.) I believe Paul was at the desk and he did well. There were no luggage carriers to be found. Paul called security and Nick was also unable to locate a cart. Nick most kindly offered to help carry my luggage to my car. He was just lovely and should be commended. I really wish I had better things to say. It would be nice to receive some kind of refund, but I am doubtful that anyone will read this review and most doubtful to receive any kind refund.
