Out tomorrow, New Line Cinema’s Vacation brings the up coming era of the epically unlucky but endlessly-optimistic Griswold household blazing back again to the screen, propelled into an sick-fated new adventure by writer/directors Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley.
This time, it is not Clark Griswold packing his household into the Wagon Queen Loved ones Truckster and embarking on a road journey from hell to Walley Earth, but his son Rusty—with The Hangover trilogy’s Ed Helms participating in the movie series’ hilariously uncomfortable teenager all grown up—taking his clan west in the Tartan Prancer (the “Honda of Albania”). Along for the journey are Anchorman films’ Christina Applegate as his suburban spouse (with a naughty previous) Debbie, and younger actors Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins as their warring sons, James and Kevin. What could probably go completely wrong?
Also highlighted are Thor’s Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann (Knocked Up), and it wouldn’t be a Trip film devoid of Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase in hilarious cameos as the original Griswolds, Ellen and Clark.
The first 4 movies in the Vacation franchise, Countrywide Lampoon’s Holiday vacation (1983), National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985), Countrywide Lampoon’s Christmas Family vacation (1997) and Vegas Holiday vacation (1997), are remembered for their hilarious and quotable dialogue.
