Two additional riders have tested positive for Covid-19 at the Tour de France, the International Biking Union (UCI) declared on Monday.
All riders underwent a check on Sunday night soon after the 15th stage and on the eve of Monday’s relaxation working day.
“The two anxious riders do not rank in the prime 20 of the event’s standard classification,” the UCI explained in a statement.
“When these riders are entirely asymptomatic, protection actions (isolation of the two riders) have been carried out to shield the other members.
“A final choice on their participation in the remainder of the celebration will be taken by tomorrow (Tuesday) early morning in a collegial fashion by the concerned functions (Covid-19 function and team medical professionals, and the UCI Clinical Director),” the statement added.
Eight riders have had to leave the Tour given that the start out owing to coronavirus.
